Hollow-core photonic bandgap fiber

Fibercloud's hollow-core photonic bandgap fiber (HCPBG) is composed of a periodic arrangement of two-dimensional photonic crystals, with the core consisting of a hollow air defect. Unlike traditional optical fibers, which guide light through total internal reflection, HCPBG fibers utilize the photonic bandgap effect to transmit light through air. The vast majority of the optical energy (over 95%) is transmitted within the air core, so light transmission
is not affected by absorption by the fiber material. This fiber exhibits excellent radiation resistance and thermal stability, making it suitable for use in harsh environments. Its low nonlinearity and latency, along with its high damage threshold, make it particularly advantageous for flexible transmission of high-power and pulsed lasers. It can also serve as an efficient platform for studying light-matter interactions.
